Day 1: Delhi – Shimla – Chitkul
- Boared your bus from Delhi, overnight journey for Shimla. we’ll
pick you from bus stand at shimla and so real adventure begins.
The drive takes you over the hills of the Shimla district through
the towns of kufri and Narkanda. After the initial dash over the
hills, the road descends down to the Sutlej valley as we continue
to the town Rampur on the Southern bank. The roads are
carved on vertical rock faces at several locations giving itself a
distinct identity. this road is popularly known as Indo-Tibet
Highway. You’ll be welcomed by several hydroelectric power
projects as you enter Kinnaur district, the major one at Karcha,
where a dam is built at the confluence of Baspa and Sutlej
rivers. From Karcham we cross over the bridge and enter Baspa
Valler to head towards Sangla, then will reach chitkul.
Overnight Stay.
Day 2 : Sangla/chitkul to Kalpa & stay @ Tabo
- We take you to the last village of India before Tibet in thisregion,
Chitkul, an hour’s drive through the Pine Forests and boulder
fields on the northern bank of river Baspa. We take short walks
in the village to the Mata Mandir, and towards the ITBP camp.
After this we retrace the roads back to Karcham Dam and move
towards Recong Peo on the Indo-Tibet Highway. Kalpa is a little
village above the town of Recong Peo, it offers one of the most
magnificent views of snowcapped peaks called the Kinner
Kailash range, winter abode of Lord Shiva. The mountain is
deeply worshipped by the locals.. Reach Nako, visit Nako lake.
Reach Tabo. Overnightstay
Day 3: Nako to Giu to Tabo to Dhankar to Kaza.
- Today we will be covering a lot of ground so we will be starting
early in the morning. It is advisable that we get going before 8
in morning. From Tabo. we start by crossing the famed Malling
Nallah to get down till Chango village which is famous for the
end of Kinnaur, there is army check post at Sumdo,. A little
ahead of Sumdo there is a diversion going right, which will take
us to Giu monastery which is home to a 800yrs old mummy of a
monk. Another half an hour of drive and we are at Tabo where
we take a halt and pay a visit to 1000yrs old monastery and
meditation Caves. Overnightstay in Kaza.
Day 4: Kaza to Langza, Komic Hikkim, Ki Kibber, Chicham
- We leave Kaza and immediately gain altitude as we head towards
the village of komic – the highest village in the world with a
motorable road at a height of 4580m. Tangyud Gompa
(Monastery) is the jewel of the place. The old and new monastery
shows the devout Buddhist beliefs of the locals. we retrace the
path towards Hikkim, situated at 4440m this village boasts the
presence of Highest Post office in the world. An hour & half hike
takes you the beautiful Dhankar Lake, relax & click as many
photos on the shores of this beutiful lake before heading back to
the village. Now drive towards one of the little know village of
Spiti, Lhalung. With snow capped peaks in the background and
the cultivation fields built on the slope of the mountain Lhalung
is photographer’s charm. Golden Temple or the Serkhong
Gompa is another 1020yrs old monastery adorning this little
village.
Day 5: Kaza to Lalung to Pin Valley to Kaza
- With leisure we get out of our comfy beds & finish breakfast
before heading towards Lalung village which is just 1hr drive
from Kaza. Lalung is quite famous for Lalung monastery which is
also called sarkhang or golden temple, was one of the earliest
monastries founded in spiti after covering lalung we will head
towards Pin Valley to experience most beuatiful landscape &experience pin valley’s local people how do they survive whenvalley if not connected with kaza for 4 months in a year due to
heavy snow one the way to Mudh which is the last village of pin
valley. We will also be visiting Kungri monastery and then we
will be coming back to Kaza by the evening.
Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal
- Today we will be covering the most famous monastery of Spiti at
Kee. known as the Kee Gompa, monastery looks like a pyramid of
houses, built on top of a hill. Enjoy the cup of tea served by the
monks as you walk through the maze of shrines. Drive to the
village of Kibber to witness one of the master pieces of modern
construction – Kibber Chicham Bridge built up on the gorge at a
height of 4300m. Drive towards Chadratal or the Moon Lake.
Situated at 4300m on the banks of the Chandra river is the fresh
water lake fed by the snow melt of surrounding hills. Other side
of the lake, backwards reveals the most breathtaking beauty that
there is high mountains of ChandraBhaga peaks decorating the
background of thislake. In evening leave for your overnightstay.
Day 7: Chadratal to Manali
- Last day of the trip, for those whose heart yearns for one more
sight of Chadratal can go to lake early morning, before the
sunlight falls on the lake, to see the surrounding mountains
reflect in harmony with the stillness of the lake. After breakfast
at the camps we start back to Manali via the Batal – Gramphu
road Manali – Leh Highway. As your mind wander back to the
lives that lay ahead we bid goodbye to you at Manali, with the
breathtaking visuals of the last week leaving you wanting for
more.
